The Rockford IceHogs announced today the re-signing of forward Chris Wilkie.

Wilkie joined the IceHogs for the 2020-21 season as a free-agent out of Colorado College. He made his presence known early in the year by becoming the Short-Handed Goal Expert for the Hogs. He finished the season with 3 short-handed goals - half of the team’s 6 total SHG’s.

The 24-year-old 6’0” winger earned the trust of the coaching staff and found himself a consistent spot in the rookie-heavy lineup. He was second in rookie scoring on the team behind only Evan Barratt. His 8 goals and 5 assists also placed him in the Top 5 of scoring for Rockford.

His point totals in college went up every year, and we hope to see the same thing next season in Rockford. In the 2021-22 season, he will have a full season’s worth of games to show off that scoring touch.

The 2021-22 AHL season kicks off on October 15.
