The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that Lukas Reichel has signed his 3-year Entry Level Contract. Reichel was chosen by the Blackhawks with their 17th overall pick in 2020.

The 2020 first-round pick spent the 2020-21 season with Eisbären Berlin of the DEL. In 38 games, he put up 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points. He added another 2 goals and 3 assists in 9 playoff games.

Most recently, Reichel played for Germany in the IIHF World Championship scoring 2 goals and 4 assists in 9 games.

It’s been an up and down season for Reichel. In December, he tested positive for COVID-19 which forced him to miss the World Junior Championship tournament. Team Germany, as a whole, had a rough go of it in the tournament as their roster was decimated by the virus and injuries.

Once he returned to the lineup for Eisbären Berlin, he regained his footing and put together a solid season.

It’s likely that Reichel will see time in the AHL next season with the Rockford IceHogs, so definitely stay tuned for lots of coverage on how he progresses throughout the year.
