The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 on Tuesday. It wasn’t a good game from Chicago, but they still came out on top. If they want to defeat Carolina twice this week, they need to come out with a better effort tonight.

Carolina got double the shots on goal. The total came out to 32-16. If we break it down by period:

1st - 13-5 CAR

2nd - 12-7 CAR

3rd - 7-4 CAR

There was no point in the game where the Blackhawks looked like the better team. Yet, somehow, they scored the first 2 goals of the game. The first one came :29 into the middle frame.

Goals Scored:

Dylan Strome (6) - Kirby Dach (1), Connor Murphy (8)

Alex DeBrincat (19) - Patrick Kane (36)

Andrei Svechnikov (10) - Brady Skjei (5), Vincent Trocheck (12)

Players to watch

Wyatt Kalynuk

Wyatt Kalynuk is back in the lineup tonight for his 3rd NHL game. The lone goal for the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday went off of him and into the net. You can’t blame him for it, but I did feel bad. He’s been very impressive in Rockford and hasn’t looked completely out of place in the NHL. I look forward to watching him in the lineup again.

Patrick Kane

Patrick Kane ended Tuesday’s game with an assist but not a single shot attempt. It wasn’t a good game all around. It especially wasn’t good for #88. The Blackhawks only put 16 shots on net. That’s not good enough, and Kane will need to step up if they want to challenge the goaltender more tonight.

Kirby Dach

Kirby Dach notched his first assists of the season on Tuesday. He was a big part of Dylan Strome’s goal. He’s been one of the best players on the ice in the 3 games since his return from a broken wrist. Now that he has his first assist of the year, he’s looking for that first goal. Tonight would be a great night to get it.
